Wow! It has been awhile since I posted on the website. Life has been so busy lately. From starting back to work, going back to college, opening up my studio in Buna, to having my truck break down, to selling my land, to being in the process of closing on a new place. Life has been wild!
So I'm going to try to catch everyone up to speed!
One of the biggest moments was March of 2023 when I received my first award as an adult in an art competition. out of 82 people, I received 3rd place at the Beaumont Art League Figurative Show.
Then on July 8th, 2023 at the Beaumont Art League's 80th anniversary, I would again be awarded for another piece, but this time bring home 1st place with "Dance Like No One is Watching". This was a huge shock and I was truly humbled. After 82 hours in that piece it did not seem like something that would actually happen. Especially with all of the talent that is in Southeast Texas.
After this, I had started back to work as a traveling Pharmacy Technician where I did mock audits for nursing homes. Then, in the fall of last year I started back to school, which I am still working on currently. My goal now is to get my LPC ( Licensed Professional Counselor) so I can be a therapist and get certified in art therapy. Later, I want to return to complete my LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist). Once complete I want to work with children of abuse, autism, and veterans with PTSD.
Then, this year, I closed out my non-profit Artists of Southeast Texas and joined the board of the Beaumont Art League so that I could continue serving my community through the arts. I also opened up my art studio at the Buna Professional Building, sold my land back to a cousin, and am currently closing on a new home.
A lot has happened and will continue to happen, but rest assured, I am not going anywhere.
